Well...Let's see here.

Okay, so there were many things I really enjoyed about the class and some things I did not. I really liked the randomness of the class and thought it was a lot of fun more of the time. Especially how Peter said the art school in California that he is going to a grand total of 23 times. I liked the egg project and the final project the most. I think those drove my personal creativity the most. The one assignment that I really did not enjoy was the bible dipping assignment...symbol for sound. Hated it! Probably because I just could not come up with anything hat I wanted to do. I thought of a couple video ideas but I'm not big on doing that stuff. I did think some people had really good ideas on it though, like the video. I definitely got a lot out of the class and will probably be popping in to future ones from time to time to see whats going on in them. It is absolutely one of the most different classes I have ever had, but it was a blast.

And on a side note, I really did like learning about Quantum Physics! It was really interesting to me and I would say you should at least touch on it every semester!

The last one...muahahahaha

So I enjoyed looking at what everyone did for their final projects for the class. There were definitely some that were really amazing. I especially enjoyed Today and Tomorrow...really well done man! I really enjoyed the entire semester and look forward to seeing what comes from the future classes.

Which One Is It?

Here is what I have created, it didn't go exactly as I wanted it to because I couldn't figure out how to do some things in unreal with the time frame I had.

Trying To Wrap My Head Around This.

Okay, so in class today we talked about quantum physics and I started thinking about alternate universes and how they are seen and not seen and that is how they can exist. Well branching off of this idea I started thinking about what if there is not just one but millions upon millions of alternate universes and the one that we see is the one we are in. Well this got me thinking about while we are sleeping we dream...several dreams a night in fact. So I wondered, what if our dreams were glimpses of alternate worlds that are or could be or could have been all at once, and we can only access these areas while we are sleeping. And what about when you die in a dream, well my theory on that is that if you chose that path some day in the past or that is just what is happening now but in a different reality then you would be dead in that reality but you do not live in that one so therefore you are still alive. Kinda hard to completely get my point across...it's all very confusing stuff but I found it to be an interesting topic for class and enjoyed listening to what everyone had to say about it.

The Five

What is color - I liked this one for many reasons. It got me thinking, how do we know that what we see is the actual color of things? What if everything is not as it seems, what if dogs see how the world really is?
What is a hero - I like this one because it made me question...are heroes real? Or are they just fictional characters in stories? Could anyone become a hero, or could anyone do heroic things?
What is war - This is a question that has been asked for as long as there has been war on our planet. It sparks other ideas for me. Will war be the end of humanity as we know it, or is it possible to find a peace throughout. Probably not, but it is nice to think so. This leads to my next favorite...
What is peace - How can there be peace in a world that is so strongly dominated by power and greed? If certain sections of the world were wiped out, or certain religions erased, could there be an everlasting peace, and would it be worth it?
What is freedom - Freedom I think is something we as Americans take for granted. We go about our every day lives and most people wouldn't think twice about how some people and places have little to no freedom at all. This makes me think of one big question...who's responsibility is it to guarantee that the world is a free place?

Stormy Weather Ahead

Class today got me thinking on my drive home of the things that people love so much. And low and behold I was heading straight into another one of the Midwests finest storms. And as I was heading into it, I turned off my music and the AC and just listened to me approaching it. After class today I realize why people love thunderstorms so much...especially in Texas because they are few and far between but when they come they come with a vengeance. But I enjoy storms so much (not so much the driving in them), because they are a beautiful representation of how powerful and graceful the weather can be. With the amazing formations of lightning to the rolling crashes of thunder, and then before you know it they are gone and there is nothing but blue skies and sun to be had. People love them so much because they are short lived and amazing...at least that's how I perceive them.

What the eff?

Well for this assignment we were asked to create something that deals with contrast.

So from what I gathered out of what we made, it is an XY which is male. And we made it into the shape of a person using various items we found on campus. We placed a flower where the reproductive part of the person is. The flower indicated that this person is a female, because of the phrase "deflower".

This contrasted two things that are found in almost every living thing on the planet...male and female. There are endless differences between the two and you could go into more discussion about it but the conversation could never end.

Do what with the what what?

My favorite post so far this year was from Peter when he was talking about the symbol for sound and his world creation assignment.

http://datrandomblog.blogspot.com/2010/06/dat-spontaneity.html

I chose this because, like him, I have a passion for creating worlds. Hence why I want to be a level designer. I like how he started with creating a language for his own made up world and I found this idea to be very interesting.

Now the 50...

1. What if you started with character creation for the world

2. What if you made the full alphabet

3. What if you aimed smaller as far as the language creation goes

4. What if you created the alphabet last

5. What if you knew what you wanted the whole world to look like

6. What if you designed the world in sections

7. What if you knew how the world would be created

8. What if the alphabet never existed

9. What if you started at the end

10. What if sound were liquid

11. What if it were more detailed

12. What if it were less detailed

13. What if all there was, was sound

14. What if you knew what the world would look like

15. What if you used plants for the primal alphabet

16. What if this world were created virtually

17. What if your primal alphabet were real

18. What if you were to finish

19. What if the world you are creating actually existed

20. What if there were only 10 sounds that existed

21. What if galaxies didn’t exist

22. What if the world were inside out

23. What if there was no sound

24. What if you were to capture these sounds

25. What if you recorded these sounds happening

26. What if there were no inhabitants to hear the sounds

27. What if you used the unreal engine to create the world

28. What if the whole world consisted of a box

29. What if the universe covered everything

30. What if you used types of rocks to describe sounds

31. What if you didn’t know space existed

32. What if there was no need for sound

33. What if sounds were artificially generated

34. What if sound were visible

35. What if your world took place underwater

36. What if sound was a gas

37. What if sound were irrelevant to your world

38. What if there was no color

39. What if your world were seen upside-down

40. What if you were to represent the sounds of galaxies through video

41. What if you turned the galaxies into works of art

42. What if you had people demonstrate the sounds

43. What if sounds were a solid

44. What if you did it wrong and the fate of the world you create depended on the choices of sound you picked

45. What if the only thing that existed was the primal alphabet

46. What if color was used for sound

47. What if sound was backwards

48. What if music for the alphabet

49. What if sound were just the illusion of our brains trying to make sense of what something should “sound” like

50. What if the world were made into a film

Got some sun

I thought this was a cool class. I am interested and slightly freaked out on the 50 things Peter is going to send me...

I like the whole go and get stuff to build something, I liked seeing what everyone got and their interpretation of what they did. It was cool also, that we were all able to make something out of every day items that were found right outside. It just goes to show that no matter where you are in the world, you will always be able to find the product of man just laying about.

My Favorite So Far!

To start off this was by far my favorite class. I wish I had gotten there on time instead of being a few minutes late though...lots track of time because I was packing...moving in a couple weeks!

I thought that this week we had loads of great conversations going on, all of which may have been amplified by the fact that maybe not later on, but at first it was pitch black and I couldn't see a thing. I really enjoyed the fact that it was really dark and it pushed my other senses to work harder to figure out everything that was going on.

Now moving on to the tunnel. I thought that this part was really neat in that it really makes you experience things you wouldn't normally. Like when the cars are driving underneath you can feel the rumble of them on the bridge. Or, I closed my eyes for a bit and could hear the distant, quiet chirp of birds in the distance. I could taste the cold water from my drink help cool me off in the hot tunnel. You could feel the heat of the sun come warm up everything in the tube. And you could see the small details in things some would not normally notice, like the flags at the tops on buildings, or the bugs flying around up higher where they are not normally seen. Overall I think this was probably my favorite experience I have gotten out of this class so far to date and only look forward to what is to come.

Lets see here...

My reality is this magical place I live in, where most of it revolves around fantasy and the people in my life.

My fears...hmm

Well this one is pretty tough. I have some fears, but none that could really hinder me from doing a lot of things. I do have a fear of heights, but it's weird how it works. I have no problem riding roller coasters but ladders freak me out. I will also never...ever...go skydiving. My aunt died when I was younger from skydiving, and well...I will pass.

I guess I have a fear of being alone...not like by myself, but alone in life, in the future. I don't know if you could say I have a fear of failure, but I can't stand it when I do. That's probably why I try my hardest at the things I am most passionate about. Now that I think about it though...a big fear I have is the inability to support my possible future family, more-so in a financial sense.

This picture is not something I created...but something that reminded me of probably my biggest fear. Being completely and utterly alone.

I do know the drill

Well to recap class, I think it was a good class. I definitely liked the first video we watched and how he said everything backwards. It was a piece that I will not soon to forget.

And now moving on to what our assignment for monday is...well it is something that has sparked a question in my mind.

What are my fears?

This will be interesting enough for me...well I do not have a lot, the ones that I do have are substantial in my eye.

More on this later.

Misheard Lyrics

Okay, so for this assignment I had no clue what I was going to do till a few days ago. I started thinking about how so many our the words in the English language sound like so many other words. Take harpoon for instance, it sounds like hard porn. So I decided to find some videos that represent what I mean.
