What A Day

Well todays class was interesting. It was a lot of fun and I think you were right Beth everyone is opening up into their own. Moving right along...why don't we talk about Running With Scissors. Well I found this movie very inspirational, especially by the masterbatorium. So much in fact that I came up with some words of my own.

Prohibation - Something to do instead of drinking.

Procrastibation - A way of delaying the now.
Instead of doing my homework I procrastibated.

Can you guys come up with some words of your own with the same theme?

Level Design!

What inspires me? Well I found some pictures from 2 of my favorite games and another great picture of a well structured outdoor level. Why do these inspire me you might ask...well I hope to one day be a professional level designer for a large game development company. Or I may end up owning my own company, who knows what the future may bring. Every time I dive into level design that I create I look at my favorites and take bits and pieces of each one and make them my own. One of my favorite levels I have made, which I posted previously is a small multiplayer level that I roughly based on Hang Em High from Halo 1. However I changed most of the level itself besides the basic core outer structure. That has been one of my favorite levels design since I started playing and noticing the ins and outs of games from a players perspective. I hope to one day make levels that will affect people like some have to me.

What Happened?!?

Well on my way home I was thinking about what Beth said, "What went wrong with the class?". And I thought about how we as students get into these grooves that we go to class and it is the same repetitive motions. Take this class, we were all under the assumption that we come in, we present our work we did, we talk about stuff and get our new assignment then go home. We were all just going through the motions you could say. I think that structure works for a normal class, however this class is anything but. We have done some things in this class that are completely out of the ordinary, so the class needs to be "out of the ordinary". How do you do this you might ask? Well I don't know. But one thing I do know is, that the fate of the world rest solely in Jim Carrey's hands.

Making The Old New

The project I am going to be working on is an outdoor level I made in the Unreal Engine. I was ok with how the final part turned out, however there is more that I would of liked to do that was just not available to do in Unreal. This was the final project for Powers Level Design class. I like how the level is designed. I based a lot of how it would look from a previously made level, but made it my own with a lot of tweaks. I dislike how I couldn't have a cave in the level because the ones in unreal just don't work well for what I was going to do. I haven't changed all that much, considering the class ended a few weeks ago, but I do understand the engine a lot more. I could take a new approach by modeling my own objects and caves, but that is something I do not know how to do...yet! I chose this project because I thought parts of it were a little barren and needed some touch-ups and additions, which you can see below.

Rest and Relaxation

Well since we had some time off to do what we wanted this week I decided to just hang out in my apartment and play some Battlefield Bad Company 2. Which was really nice that I could just take time for myself because I went for a 2 hour hike in Holiday Park off of 56th Street. So it made the time I had to relax that much more enjoyable! Oh and in case you were wondering...I owned some noobs in the face!!!

Get Outta My Face!

So for this experiment I decided to show me breaking the personal space boundaries by me slapping Joel in the face. I decided to do this for two reasons. One, I cant stand it when people touch my face. And two, I really enjoy slapping Joel in the face for fun!

I Want To Break Free

Class was a lot of fun today, definitely one I will not soon forget..I have a feeling that this will become a regular occurrence. I am already looking forward to class on Wednesday. Also, Beth, I want to pass a message on to you. I am nothing like Kevin Hall. That is all for today.

The Sacrifice

I decided to show a small group of people sacrificing the egg to a dragon that terrorizes the people. In order for them to be safe, once a week a sacrifice must be made or the dragon, Gnarkill as the villagers call him, will destroy the village they live in.

Hmm...

So, interesting class Beth...I think this will be a class I will enjoy very much. I went in not sure what to expect...and low and behold we get an egg with crap and feathers still on the outside. I have an idea for what to do with mine which will be posted soon.

Today was a good day ^o^
